Mini Hutch Makeover

I found this cute little doll house hutch on clearance at Michael's. My friend just got married and moved into a cute apartment. I have a firm belief that every girl should have a hutch. It's just the one furniture requirement of a female. Vanity desk I can do with out, but a hutch, OH, it is a necessity.

I painted this cutie gray on the outside, white on the inside, turquoise on the shelf edges and on the knobs. Afterwards I took white to the edges of the gray for a distressed look.

I wanted to make a mini wreath for it, but was pressed for time, so a happy bunting did just fine!

Owl baby mobile

To go along with the owl painting I made for Jackie's new baby girl, I decided to try to make a mobile using the same method from when I made a DIY Solar System Mobile.

I sewed together little felt owl, giraffe, and flowers to hang on a dressed up embroidery hoop. I then added some QuicKutz dies up the string. They really are the magic touch.

For hanging I made the string extra long so that you can wrap it around a thumbtack that you can pin into your ceiling. An elementary method, but it actually looks really pretty.

Owl Family and their House Painting for a Baby Nursery

My dear friend Jackie is having her third baby! She is due within the next couple weeks and just had her baby shower. She got this cute owl baby bedding set from Target so I knew I had to paint something cute to go with it.

It's got a Papa, Mama, and three little girl owls. Their last name starts with a B so I was pleased to stand back and realize the owls are sitting on branches that form a B shape. What a happy accident!

No matter how hard I tried, I could NOT get a picture that represented the colors accurately. It is so pretty and soft in person.

I also added patterned paper for some of the leaves. It's one of my favorite baby paintings.

Here is the display at Target. This bedding inspired the painting.

I also made a pretty baby mobile to match. You can see it here.
